Slow Readers Book Club

Slow_Readers_Book_Club

Diana and Gabbi brilliantly came up with the idea of kicking off the new year with a book club. I love to read, but found myself reading far less than I would have liked to in 2009. I love that not only will this experience encourage me to read more, but expose me to authors and books that I may not have otherwise encountered.

Diana did such a lovely job explaining the name that she came up with, I am going to quote her here.

"Don't let the name fool you- it's not for literally slow readers (although, if you are, we don't judge) and it's not as exclusive as a 'club'. This is an opportunity to take part of a movement that needs a revelation to slow down and take a few minutes in our day to disconnect, reenergize and even be a part of helping our communities and environment, via The Slow Movement."

I feel inspired and I am very excited to be a part of it!

There is already a wonderful group of bloggers involved...the two that I originally mentioned, Christina, Carly, and Anna.

Our first book is Half Broke Horses by Jeannette Walls.

There will be a two month period in which you can obtain and read the book. We will be discussing the book via email and on March 4th, we will post a review of the book. If you are interested, please email me or let me know and I will make sure that you get on Diana's master mailing list...we would love to have you!

Happy reading!

Wow, what a freaking fantastic idea! I think just about every year I resolve to read more, and every year, I fail. I'll keep a close eye on your recommendations and reviews: maybe I'll discover some new books to read that way!

How fun! I am jealous of ppl who can dive into a book...my boyfriend reads several per month, but I've never been much of a reader...way too slow. I like the graphic you have for slow readers book club!

what an awesome idea. I've been saying this for a while. there is so much distraction out there and I think that all we really want is to take a minute and relax, enjoy simple things and have a moment for ourselves "unplugged" - can't wait to read the reviews.
