I'm alive!

I had a heck of a weekend! Thursday evening, I went with a group of girls to see a midnight showing of New Moon. It was so much better than Twilight (the movie, I didn't love New Moon the book, I think largely due to Edward's absence). Would you love or even like this movie if you hadn't read, or disliked the series? Probably not, though there was plenty of eye candy and the wolves looked super cool.

i'm a nerd
yes, I wore this Thursday night...I must admit that I had a cardi buttoned up while I ate dinner to avoid embarrassment!

By Friday evening, I had a serious case of stomach flu. Not fun. Saturday I dragged myself out of bed to see New Moon again with Hub (I had forced him to listen to Twilight on CD on the way to Mammoth last year and he listened to the rest of the series on his long commute). He thought that it was far superior to Twilight as well, but doesn't think he would like it if he hadn't "read" it.

Yesterday was spent in recovery mode and I should give Hub props because he made me eggs benedict for breakfast. Yum. I was also in super clean mode because the fam is coming over for Thanksgiving. My cousin, his new wife, and Hub's family can't make it so it is going to be quite small, unfortunately. I think that I am going to set the table with a really casual feel...I'll be sure to share photos!

Last week, I found myself eating 3 meals inspired by other bloggers! SEE how important you guys are in my life?!! I wanted to give you a little glimpse. (if you follow me on twitter, you have probably seen all of these photos...sorry!)

diana's sando
Diana somehow managed to improve on a sandwich I eat several times per week! The addition of cinnamon was genius!

Gabby's Pasta
This has to be the 3rd or 4th time that I have made Gabby's pasta...my favorite add in is asparagus! This is the only dish that Hub will eat that has "chocolate noodles" (whole wheat).

Lu's peppers
Mart and Lu's (they both get credit on this one) stuffed red peppers were perfect when I had a few that needed to be used...easy and delicious!

Have a great (short for us in the US...yay!) week everyone...I have much to catch up on after a mostly computer free weekend!

with bells on

Good morning! I'm in a delightful mood today, thank goodness! I have been feeling rotten as of late, so was pleased that I woke up sans headache and with only a slightly puffy eye (I am the only one that can notice this, but it is still irritating). I'm going to be a busy bee this morning so that I can head on down to Palm Springs (well Palm Desert, but same thing) to meet up with some friends and watch New Moon! I'm going to spend tomorrow catching up on sleep, eating room service breakfast (doesn't EVERYTHING taste better when you order room service?), and Christmas shopping! I'm sure that I will be on twitter all night as I wait in a long line with teeny boppers! The only bummer is that I am missing Jasmine's book club!

I really wanted to try this outfit with shorter jeans, little socks, and open toed shoes (a la j.crew), but I was in a hurry and couldn't make it work...next time!

I know that a few of you guys (Hub calls me a twitard) will be watching New Moon tonight too....have fun!

time out

I fell asleep really, really early last night. My body is so tired...I think that I am still fighting something off. I have a swollen eye (it's not THAT bad looking, but it feels funny). I have had headaches almost every day for a few weeks. I went to the optometrist yesterday and I need a stronger prescription, but I think that the cause for my eye and head are allergies, yuck. I so wanted to watch the meteor shower...did anyone see it? They are so magical!

The good news

...is that I am eating chocolate covered gummy bears right now for breakfast which I won from Ocean Dreams. Seriously, so good!

chocbears

...is that it is finalized that I am hosting Thanksgiving again this year. We had it at our place 2 years ago and had 17 guests! This year, it will be smaller, but I get to put on my apron and play hostess (something I deeply love to do).

our table from when we hosted Christmas last year

...is that since we are hosting Thanksgiving, I need to get my (ahem) ...act together and get the house organized which means that I may finally do a house tour soon (this has been a goal since I started this blog!).

...is that I have a ticket to see New Moon in Palm Springs Thursday night! We are going to go early to stand in line to make sure that we get good seats! I also have a hotel room for the night, so Friday will surely be spent relaxing!

cullen
I'm not wearing this shirt, but you can get it here.

...is that I leave for DC in a few weeks and I am so freaking excited!

weekend update

I had a pretty nice weekend.

Saturday I drove all the way to a city that I had never heard of near San Diego to get the N1H1 vaccine. I had lunch at the Yardhouse on my way home so that made it worth it. (it is one of my favorite casual places to eat!)

Hub had fun at his bike race. He did a "half century" and I guess they don't keep track of scoring? I'm proud of him and he keeps trying to convince me that I should get a road bike. I'm super accident prone, so I think that this is a very dangerous proposition. (he did not cook all weekend, but did make me a fried egg yesterday)

It was finally cold enough to start a fire! I LOVE waking up to a fire in the morning. Yesterday was spent sleeping in, watching football, and catching up on TV. (this is what I woke up to at 9 which is like SO late for me)

fire

And I ate a lot! I tried Chicago style pizza for the first time and it just wasn't for me. It's like 5 inches thick...it was actually more like a casserole! Last night I made one of my favorite dishes, chorizo seafood cioppino. (this is why I wasn't disappointed at all that I did the cooking this weekend as usual!)

cioppino

(if you follow me on twitter, you have already seen this iphone pics...sorry for the redundancy)

Try to have a good week everyone!

bow-dacious

I love the weather today...chilly, not too cold, overcast. I only wish that I could have spent the day in bed!

Yay, it's Friday! I don't have many plans this weekend. Hub claims that he is going to the market on his way home and that he is going to furnish, cook, and clean every meal through Sunday. I do not think that this is possible for several reasons. 1.) I don't think that he has cooked and cleaned a meal that I have eaten since we have been married and 2.) I'm kind of anal about how the dishes are done and I'm sure that I will get involved. I will give him a free pass because the thought is sweet and he is racing in a road bike race tomorrow, so I guess I should be the one doing the cooking!

Have an awesome weekend!
